Reversible Carbon Dioxide Gas Detection Sensor
Developed by NanoBiotech R&D for the pharmaceutical, food, healthcare, cold chain transport, environmental and biotechnology sectors. With this sensor, the amount of carbon dioxide in the environment is detected in less than 3 seconds.
The sensor works reversibly; it changes colour in the presence of carbon dioxide and returns to its original colour when carbon dioxide is removed from the environment. It is also used in the detection of carbon dioxide in food packaging due to microorganism growth and dissolved carbon dioxide in aquatic environments such as water, whitewater and rivers.
In some other solutions, the indicator used for colour change uses materials harmful to human and environmental health. In contrast, in our sensor, colour change is achieved by using herbal active substances. In indicator solutions used in the colorimetric determination of dissolved carbon dioxide gas, it is important to obtain a reversible reaction. Another problem with existing solutions is that additional processes such as heat treatment, fluorescence, nitrogen gas application are required to achieve the reversible effect. This complicates the conversion and applicability of the indicator to the product and increases the cost of the product. However, in our own sensor, we have developed a reversible reaction within milliseconds following the end or cessation of carbon dioxide gas without any additional treatment like (heat, mixing, volatilisation with N2 gas, etc.).
The Reversible Carbon Dioxide Gas Detection Sensor indicator solution developed by NanoBiotech R&D is capable of determining dissolved CO2 directly under ambient conditions without the need for pressure and temperature changes.
